get the most out of your health fund

If you have private health cover for orthodontics and are entitled to a rebate from your health fund, please note that any applicable health fund rebate is subject to the terms and conditions of your health fund policy. It is your responsibility to contact the health fund provider and  obtain information and confirm the amount that can be claimed.

Every health fund is different but in average the life long rebates are around $1.800-2.600, claims can only be submitted once treatment has started (braces on, aligners in, plate/appliance in). Some health funds pay a lump sum, other pay a yearly contribution up to the lifetime maximum.

Some questions you may want to ask your private health insurance company to see if you are eligible for a rebate:

  • Does my insurance cover orthodontic treatment?
  • Are there any age restrictions on my orthodontic cover?
  • Does my plan cover clear aligners? If they ask you for an Item number, give the item number 825
  • What is the process for me to file a claim for a rebate ?
  • What is the lifetime limit on my policy and is there an annual limit?
  • Does my rebate restarts every calendar year or financial year?
  • How much can I claim each year for my orthodontic treatment, and what is the process?

Orthodontics Perth does not file health insurance claims. Please clarify what your insurance company will require from you to be able to file a claim and to be reimbursed directly to you.

When you decide to go ahead with treatment, we will provide you with a quote first and an invoice later containing all the information usually required by health insurance companies to file a claim.
